Location and History
Situated near Paarl in the Drakenstein Valley, Adara Palmiet Valley is a historic wine estate dating back more than 300 years. Surrounded by vineyards and framed by the Paarl Mountains, the 16-hectare estate features four historic Cape Dutch buildings, majestic oaks, flowering jacarandas and guava trees imported from Madeira over 200 years ago. Committed to sustainability, the estate follows a Green Concept that prioritises the conservation of its natural surroundings and local wildlife.
Wine Tasting
Adara Palmiet Valley has revived its winemaking tradition under the guidance of renowned South African winemaker Niel Bester. Its portfolio of six wines includes MCC Brut, Sauvignon Blanc, its flagship Chenin Blanc and a selection of red wines, all rated 90 points or higher. The estate’s unique terroir, shaped by sandy clay soils, mountain influences and cool afternoon breezes, contributes to the quality and balance of its wines. Grapes are hand-picked and carefully sorted to preserve their character and ageing potential.
Restaurant
The Adara Restaurant offers an inviting dining experience beneath the estate’s ancient oak trees, with vineyard wines complementing seasonal cuisine inspired by Mediterranean flavours. Committed to sustainability, the kitchen sources produce from local farmers and sustainable agriculture.
