Allée Bleue Wine Estate

Winery Description

Location and History

Allée Bleue offers visitors an extraordinary experience, with exceptional wines, fresh produce, elegant event venues, a restaurant and picnic area, warm hospitality, historic charm and modern art, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Franschhoek Valley.

The Dauphin family has established Allée Bleue as a benchmark for excellence. As one of the Cape’s oldest and iconic farms, the estate’s understanding of its terroir, diligent vineyard cultivation, and precise cellar practices culminate in the enchanting wines that define Allée Bleue. This approach yields a selection of internationally award-winning wines, each with a unique character, carefully crafted to create the perfect drinking experience.

Wine Tasting

The estate is surrounded by scenic beauty, featuring the imposing Drakenstein mountain range, expansive vineyards, fragrant lavender fields, and age-old meadows. Visitors to the estate are welcomed by a distinctly French flair, befitting its proximity to Franschhoek’s historic town, often referred to as South Africa’s own taste of France.

Allée Bleue’s wine portfolio offers the tasting of two ranges: The Reserve Collection and the Estate Collection. Cheese and charcuterie platters are also available to complement the tasting experience. Indulge in a pairing of Allée Bleue Méthode Cap Classique wines with handcrafted artisanal confections. Each confection is thoughtfully selected to enhance the distinctive flavours of the MCCs or opt for a Pinotage and Biltong Pairing.

Guests are invited to sample the award-winning wines in the Allée Bleue Tasting Room, where a friendly team guides them through the wine selection and the estate’s rich heritage. In summer, guests can enjoy their tasting on a shaded terrace with views of the vineyards, gardens, and mountains, while in winter, they can cosy up by the open fire.

Restaurant

At Allée Bleue, the Bistro focuses on using seasonal local ingredients and various fresh herbs grown in the estate’s herb tunnels. Meals are served in a contemporary setting with attentive yet unobtrusive service. The Bistro is open daily for breakfast and lunch.

Visitors can unwind in the picturesque gardens in warmer months with an Allée Bleue picnic. The picnic baskets include popular choices such as fresh salads, olives, ciabattas, cold meats, local cheeses, and desserts. Vegetarian and children’s options are also available. Booking in advance through the estate’s website is required.

Accommodation

The estate offers two historic accommodations for overnight stays: Kendall Cottage and The Manor House, tastefully restored and complemented by impressive artwork.
Kendall Cottage features two spacious suites connected by a large living room and a private terrace overlooking orchards and vineyards. The Manor House, a historic residence from 1920, includes refined dining and reception rooms. The original storage barn upstairs has been thoughtfully converted into two luxurious suites that can also be booked independently. Outside, the terrace and walled garden, with lawns edged in iceberg roses and lavender, create a serene setting, while a citrus orchard and herb garden lies beyond. The Manor House also offers a suite that can be rented for daytime events, such as weddings, conferences, or business meetings.
