Location and History

This charming winery, named Amperbo, meaning 'almost at the top' in Afrikaans, is perched at a stunning 480m elevation along the Bottelary Hills. Nestled within a scenic landscape, the vineyard benefits from the unique terroir and decomposed granite soils, enhancing the character of its wines. Founded by experienced viticulturist Pieter Smit and his wife Michelle, the couple aims to transform the local vines into world-class wines while integrating sustainable practices into their operations.
