Blaauwklippen Wine Estate

Winery Description

Location and History

Situated in the heart of Stellenbosch, Blaauwklippen is one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa, founded in 1682. The estate thrives on rich and fertile soils, ideal for cultivating premium wines. The unique terroir is complemented by the region's favorable climate and diverse microclimates, which contribute significantly to the quality of the grapes. Over the centuries, the estate has evolved under various owners, with a consistent focus on maintaining healthy vines and low yields, which allows for superior wine quality. The stunning surroundings, characterized by majestic mountains and expansive vineyards, create an inviting atmosphere that showcases the essence of South African wine culture. Today, it continues to be a symbol of traditional winemaking, seamlessly blending heritage with innovation under the guidance of skilled winemaker Narina Cloete, who has been at the helm since 2016.
