Brandvlei Cellar / BC Wines
Winery Description
Location and History
Located in Doornrivier, Worcester, South Africa, Brandvlei Cellar sits near the picturesque Brandvlei Dam and is surrounded by the natural beauty of the Breede River Valley. Its vineyards benefit from rich, fertile soil types shaped by ancient glacial activity, particularly from the Karoo, which leaves behind valuable geological deposits. The Dwyka formations, characterised by rocky outcrops, enhance the stunning vistas surrounding the cellar. Founded in 1955, Brandvlei Cellar reflects the commitment of a wine-growing community focused on sustainable quality. The winery moved to its current location in 1974 after the dam's expansion. With a diverse range of wines crafted from the unique terroir and variety of conditions, the winery continues to uphold its philosophy of quality winemaking, embracing innovation while respecting tradition.
