Winery Description

Location and History

De Wet Cellar is the oldest winery in the Worcester region, founded on April 15, 1946. Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of the De Wet-Overhex-Nuy area, the winery benefits from an array of diverse terroirs that play a crucial role in developing its signature wine style. The vineyards, situated at 930 meters above sea level, include a variety of grape cultivars that flourish in the region's unique soil types. The winery’s commitment to producing high-quality wines is reflected in its extensive processing capabilities, which have expanded from 3,000 tons of grapes annually in its early days to approximately 19,000 tons today. Tertius Jonck and Phillip Vercuiel lead the winemaking efforts, ensuring that each bottle embodies excellence and authenticity. With a focus on innovation and tradition, De Wet Cellar harmonizes its winemaking philosophy with the region's agricultural heritage, offering wines that resonate with both local and international markets.
