Eikehof

Winery Description

Location and History

Eikehof Wine Estate is a family-owned winery located to the west of Franschhoek Village near La Motte. Nestled under the shade of ancient oak trees along the R45, this hidden treasure has been in the Malherbe family since 1903. Today, 120 years later, Francois Malherbe represents the fourth generation of winemakers crafting wines in the same cellar his great-grandfather used. The estate's name, Eikehof, is inspired by the magnificent old oak trees iconic to the farm and the Cape Winelands area.

Wine Tasting

The vineyards span 23 hectares, complemented by peach orchards. The farm is also famous for having the oldest block of Semillon bush vines in South Africa, dating back to 1902. Eikehof produces six varietals: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Semillon, Merlot, Shiraz, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Owners Francois and Elize, together with their team extend a warm welcome, promising an unforgettable experience. Enjoy Eikehof wines under the oak trees with a view of the Drakenstein Mountain, and benefit from not only their extensive wine knowledge but also their passion and love for the farm.

At the estate, you can choose from a variety of platters to compliment your wine tastings. Eikehof is child-friendly with lots for space for the little ones.

Eikehof is the ideal setting for small events, birthday celebrations or an intimate wedding. You can also visit them as part of the Franschhoek wine tram experience.
