Idiom

Winery Description

Location and History

Idiom Wines is situated in the heart of the Helderberg range in Somerset West. This southernmost area of the Stellenbosch wine region offers the ideal backdrop and perfect climatic conditions for producing an exceptional range of wines. This picturesque area, characterised by its diverse terroir and unique microclimates, contributes significantly to the quality of its wines. The vineyards benefit from decomposed granite and clay soils, allowing for rich flavour development in the grapes. Established in 1999 by Alberto and Valerie Bottega, the winery draws inspiration from both European winemaking traditions and the local landscape. The vineyards, known as Da Capo, flourish under the care of skilled winemaker Reino Thiart, who aims to produce exceptional blends and varietals that express the essence of the grapes. With views of False Bay and the surrounding mountains, Idiom provides a scenic backdrop that enhances the wine tasting experience, making it a perfect destination for visitors seeking to explore the beauty of the Cape Winelands.
