Klein Sering Wines
Winery Description
Location and History
Situated in the tranquil Noordhoek Valley Cape Town, Klein Sering is a two hectare boutique wine farm. It was founded in 2013 by the Koen family, after they relocated from suburban Rondebosch. The name, meaning "Small Syringa Tree", was inspired by the original Koen family farm. While the house was being built, two main blocks of vineyard were established with 65% Sauvignon Blanc vines and 35% Semillon vines. A total of one hectare of vineyard.
A boutique wine approach. Intensive nurturing of the vines in a unique valley, Noordhoek, to allow white varietals to develop to their full potential. Wheat and canola is planted in the rows between the vines during winter to enhance the soil and this is followed by a late pruning strategy.
Wine Tasting
Due to the colder climate and direct sea breezes, white wine varieties thrive in Noordhoek. Klein Sering, only a few hundred meters from the ocean, has the advantage of longer slower ripening of the grapes, allowing more time to develop unique flavours and nuances. Intensive micromanagement of our small vineyard, together with the unique terroir put this wine into a league of its own.
The famous white wine blending partners of Bordeaux France, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, bring uniquely different characteristics, and elements of flavour and texture. The resultant blend is a wine that is superior in complexity to either of the components on their own. Klein Sering has strived successfully to achieve this.
Tasting takes place by appointment for groups of six people and more. Wine tasting includes a sushi lunch.
