Lammershoek
Winery Description
Location and History
The name Lammershoek, meaning “lambs’ corner” in Afrikaans, dates back over 300 years and is rooted in the farm’s early history as a refuge for ewes protecting their lambs from birds of prey. Originally a mixed-stock farm in the early 1700s, it has since evolved into a dedicated wine estate. In 2013, the property was acquired by a trio of German investors, including famed footballer Franz Beckenbauer. Today, Lammershoek cultivates 60 hectares of organically farmed vineyards, primarily using the traditional Swartland dryland (unirrigated) method.
