Breëland, the heart of Marais Family Wines, is located on Slanghoek Road in Rawsonville, South Africa. Established in 1847 by the Marais family, who migrated from Le Marais in France, the estate has evolved from livestock and fruit farming to viticulture, becoming a prominent winery in the region. The scenic landscapes of Slanghoek Valley, surrounded by mountains, provide an ideal terroir characterized by ancient sandstone riverbeds, good water retention, and well-drained rocky soils. The vineyards, established in 2006 and onward, now produce an array of grape varietals, with a commitment to quality visible in their winemaking philosophy. Under the leadership of Owner and CEO Lizelle Marais, alongside skilled Winemaker Wickus Erasmus, the estate continuously embraces modern winemaking practices while respecting its rich heritage.
