Mulderbosch Vineyards

Winery Description

Location and History

In 1989, founders Larry Jacobs and Mike Dobrovic transformed a neglected fruit farm with no history of viticulture into Mulderbosch, believing it held great potential for winemaking. Their efforts quickly paid off, with their distinctive wines earning international acclaim from the first vintage in 1992. Today, the Mulderbosch team remains dedicated to the founders' vision, producing diverse, innovative wines that reflect the estate's unique terroir.
The estate's commitment to quality extends to precision farming and eco-friendly practices, with a solar-powered cellar supporting its low-intervention approach. The grapes are grown on the estate, which features diverse soils ranging from Malmesbury shale to decomposed granite, and the vineyards benefit from the cooling sea breezes from False Bay. Mulderbosch also partners with select wine growers who share their commitment to quality and sustainability, ensuring that all their wines are certified as Wine of Origin Stellenbosch.

Wine Tasting

Mulderbosch is known for pioneering wines like Sauvignon Blanc, barrel-fermented Chenin Blanc, and a Cap Classique made from three classic Champagne varietals. The wines, celebrated for their freshness and finesse, are vegan-friendly and ready to enjoy, though many can age gracefully for 10 to 15 years.
Guests can choose from the premium wine tasting, which includes four wines, or the exclusive wine tasting, choosing two exclusive wines to taste. Local olives and crackers are included in each wine tasting.

Restaurant

Visitors to Mulderbosch can relax in the estate's welcoming outdoor spaces, enjoying wine tastings alongside wood-fired pizzas, chargrilled burgers, and charcuterie platters. With sweet treats and custom cake options, Mulderbosch offers a serene setting to savour its exceptional wines and cuisine.
