Location and History

Situated in the picturesque Breedekloof Valley, Olifantsberg Family Vineyards enjoys a stunning landscape surrounded by the Brandwacht Mountains. This region, known for its rocky, mineral-rich soils and steep slopes, provides an ideal environment for wine production. Established by Dutchman Paul Leeuwerik, the vineyard emphasizes the importance of reflecting the unique terroir in its wines. The area boasts a diverse range of flora and fauna, with the Renosterveld fynbos being particularly noteworthy. The winery’s location, characterized by its cooler climate and high elevations between 250m to 450m, enables exceptional flavor development in grapes due to the vast temperature fluctuations between day and night. As part of the Breedekloof Wine Valley, the winery contributes to the region's growing reputation for producing world-class Chenin Blanc and other varietals, showcasing the rich history and culture of winemaking in South Africa.
