Location and History

Nestled in the picturesque Robertson Valley, Van Loveren is surrounded by stunning landscapes and rolling vineyards. The region benefits from the Mediterranean climate, with warm days and cool nights, perfect for grape cultivation. The terrain features a mix of clay and sand, providing an ideal terroir for their diverse wine offerings. The winery has been in the Retief family since 1937, when Hennie Retief Sr. acquired the land and named it after Christiena van Loveren, an ancestor of his bride, Jean van Zyl. Under the guidance of three generations, Van Loveren has maintained its family-owned charm while evolving into a major player in South Africa's wine industry, known for consistency, innovation, and a focus on quality.

Wine Tasting

At Van Loveren, wine tasting is an immersive experience. Guests can savor a variety of wines, including their acclaimed Pinotage and unique blends, at the tasting room affectionately dubbed 'The Pod.' Christina's Bistro at Van Loveren is a dining experience that complements the winery's offerings perfectly. The seasonal menu features chef’s specials, ensuring variety and freshness. Guests can dine indoors or on the terrace, enjoying views of the stunning gardens.
