Walker Bay Estate

Winery Description

Location and History

Founded in 2003 with the planting of its first grape vines, Walker Bay Estate has since evolved into a fully operational vineyard and winery. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, the estate ensures its winemaker can craft high-quality blends that reflect the region's unique terroir.

Located near the heritage town of Stanford, the estate sits in the shadow of the Klein Rivier mountains, bordered by the cold Atlantic Ocean. The farm features a diverse range of soil types, including decomposed granite, shale, and limestone outcrops. This, combined with the cool climate, provides a long ripening period for the grapes, resulting in concentrated, yet balanced wines with a distinct sense of place.

The versatile venue offers ample space both indoors and outdoors, making it an ideal location for special events. The team welcomes discussions to help create the perfect setting for any occasion. The estate is also pet-friendly, with well-behaved dogs on leads always welcome.

Wine Tasting

Wine tasting is offered in the bar area, the restaurant area or outside. Wines include Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.

Restaurant

The estate’s pub-style restaurant's menu blends traditional South African dishes with a modern twist, designed to pair perfectly with the estate's locally produced wine and beer. Guests can relax by the fireplace on rainy days or enjoy outdoor seating with friends on sunny afternoons.
